Meet Our Counselors

With the help of amazing volunteers, this group of dedicated and experienced individuals staff our Year-Round Respite Program providing our campers with the utmost level of care.

Each brings with them an array of talents, which they lovingly share with our campers.

Left to right: Sawyer Smith, Audrey Fritz, Joseph Morrison (kneeling), Kenny Beebe, Jorge Guillen, Isaac Tuttle, Jordan Raabe, Amira Wheeler, Sommer Jones, Kevin Ivester, and Alex Robinson.

Audrey Fritz

Audrey has been living and working at Camp Krem for a year and a half. She has been a Counselor, Assistant Outdoor Camp Director and currently the Assistant Travel Camp Director. Audrey holds Red Cross certification in CPR, First Aid, AED and Preventative Health and Safety, and Lifeguarding.  She is also a Level 1 USA Archery Instructor and teaches archery on our Year-Round overnight trips.

“It is a joy working with this population, especially in the supportive environment Camp Krem offers. Currently I work at a local shop in Boulder Creek. The rest of my free time is spent roaming the Redwoods, gardening and making jewelry. For now, the campers and Camp Krem hold my adventurous heart’s full attention. With gratitude I look forward to sharing a little of the adventure I see in the world with your camper!”

Kenny Beebe

An experienced camper and outdoorsman, Kenny started as a Counselor and is now Travel Camp Director. He grew up and spent the majority of his life in Indiana and moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains to pursue a more meaningful and happy lifestyle. Kenny holds Red Cross certification in CPR, First Aid, AED and Preventative Health and Safety, Lifeguarding, as well as a Commercial Driver License certified to drive our large passenger vehicles.

“The thing I love most about Camp is that it provides a wonderful place to learn, grow and love (for both campers and staff). I have personally seen so many positive changes come about due to people’s time here and I want to do all that I can to preserve this place and the message it radiates!”

Alex Tuttle

Alex came to us from Loudonville, Ohio. In college, he majored as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist and is currently studying to take his initial licensure exam for education so he can begin teaching next year.

“I feel that being able to help others here at Camp Krem is a calling in my life.  I wake up each day feeling so happy to have the opportunity to reach out to others and help to brighten their day with care and kindness.  I look forward to my future here at Camp Krem.  There is so much love and kindness here,  I can always see this truth radiating off of each camper.”

Kevin Ivester

Kevin is a performer and songwriter with a B.S. in Recording Arts from Indiana University. He was introduced to working with the special needs population through Camp Krem, and has since expanded his involvement with the community by taking a Direct Support Professional position with Monarch Independent Living Services in Santa Cruz.

“I have seen enormous dividends in my personal growth since beginning to work with the Special Needs population. The opportunity to practice kindness, empathy and patience professionally while taking direct action to support, enliven and heal the world around me is an immense source of gratitude and perspective in my life.”

Isaac Tuttle

Isaac comes to Camp Krem from a small town called Loudonville, Ohio. He spent the 2016 summer as a Counselor and decided to stay in California in the hopes of pursuing a career working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Isaac is an avid musician, who loves to share music with our campers.

“I can’t wait for new experiences to grow and I feel blessed to have been given a chance to work at Camp Krem. I play guitar and am a music enthusiast who feels a great healing power in music. I’d like to incorporate more music in the lives of the people of this population.”

Alex Robinson

Alex has been our Head Cook since June of 2015, and works hard to provide healthy, delicious and varied meals to our campers and staff during the summer and at our Year-Round Respite Program overnights. She is experienced at accommodating various dietary restrictions. Alex also enjoys teaching the campers about cooking and kitchen clean up as part of our Work Experience Program.

“Filling bellies has become a passion of mine since I first came to Camp in 2015. For me, cooking is a great way to be creative; I’m learning a lot about different kinds of food and all the different ways to create a dish. Our campers, staff, and animals have all shown me so much in my time here and have helped me to grow and learn in ways I never thought possible. I came out to camp from Port Huron, Michigan with intentions to stay for the summer but I never left! The environment, people, and experiences will always have a place in my heart.”

Jorge Guillen

Jorge has been a counselor with Camp Krem since summer 2015 and is currently studying Computer Science at Cabrillo College. His favorite hobby is playing and watching sports of all kinds. Soccer is his specialty- he has been playing since he was five years old. Jorge is great at sharing his love of sports and athletic activities with our campers.

“I am really good at coming up with activities on the spot. I am very spontaneous and I love engaging the campers in new and exciting games and activities while they are at camp.”
