Roberts Recreation Area –
Wheelchair Accessible Trails, Playgrounds and a Pool Were on Offer!

Endless Outdoor Fun for Campers in the Beautiful Bay Area
Our visit to Roberts Regional Recreation Area this last weekend was a blast!

We started off by setting up our picnic area. We couldn’t have asked for better weather – the sun was shining and made the perfect setting for a fun day in the bay.

Wheelchair Accessible Activities and Even Pool Time!

Some campers explored the amazing play structure, which is wheel chair accessible. Speaking of wheel chair accessible, the pool was amazing. Their adaptive pool equipment allowed campers of all abilities to enjoy some pool time in the hot sun. Way to go City of Oakland! It’s amazing how far the special needs community has come in getting our public facilities ADA Certified.

There’s Nothing Like Good Burgers at the Park
Is there anything better for a picnic than burgers? We didn’t think so.

After a big meal and some well deserved down time, our campers took off again. Some went back to the pool. Thomas, Joey, and Scott hiked the Diablo Vista trail and were reminded of just how beautiful our Bay Area can be. The trail winds up to the Diablo Vista and opens up to a view of the Bay Area that is unmatched!

Friends Were Made, Fun Was Had
James made a friend in one of the lifeguards working at the pool. She and James talked about their favorite foods and chatted about life. We love when our campers meet new people!

At the end of our day, Kyle and Leon took us on a trail they discovered earlier and taught us that we were actually looking at a second generation forest! Leon is always a treasure trove of knowledge.
