Summer 2024 Travel Camp

We are excited to offer travel trips again, to some of the most beautiful places California has to offer. Travel Camp is the perfect program for our more independent campers who want to experience the fun of traveling in the great outdoors with good friends. Our Travel Campers get to enjoy life on the road, sightseeing & visiting local attractions, campfires, camping out in tents or under the stars, participating in campsite set up, meal prep & cooking in a cooperative team environment — and gaining valuable skills along the way — and so much more!

Campers must meet the following general criteria* to be eligible for Travel Camp:

  • Do well at a supervision ratio of one staff member to three campers (1:3) – 1:1 supervision is not available on Travel Camp;
  • Ages 13+;
  • Be excellent at listening to and following directions;
  • Good at staying with a group, with no tendencies to wander or elope;
  • Not exhibit significant behavioral challenges, particularly aggression of any kind;
  • Demonstrate appropriate behavior in community settings;
  • Independent, or almost completely independent, with personal care/toileting/hygiene needs (i.e. little to no assistance needed, besides verbal prompts or reminders);
  • Physically capable of sleeping outdoors on sleeping mats/in tents;
  • Physically capable of participating in outdoor activities, in the elements, such as light to moderate hiking.

Session 1: June 4th-13th: Big Sur (21+)

Welcome back to another summer of Travel Camp! We are excited to kick off this summer by going to beautiful Big Sur. Breathtaking views, short hikes, and sea life awaits us as we explore up and down Highway 1 and take in all of the sights. It will be a fun trip to bring in the new season and be with our friends!
Non-Strenuous

Session 2: June 16th-25th: Glamping: Zion (Vegas Stopover)

Travel Camp is going all in for an amazing experience at Zion National Park! “Gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky.” We will spend our days hiking and exploring the natural wonders of Zion. When we are not out adventuring we will be enjoying a lovely Airbnb in the area. We will also be making pit stops in Las Vegas to break up our journey.
Mixed-(I have longer hikes, easy strolls, and beach days planned)

Session 3: June 28th-July 7th: Lake Tahoe/River Rafting ETC

Join us for the 4th of July in beautiful Lake Tahoe! We will be exploring South Lake Tahoe and enjoy swimming, hiking, and fireworks! We will also be meeting our friends at ETC for an unforgettable river rafting trip! Please Note: Additional criteria apply for this session, per our partners at ETC. Higher Level of Physical Activity

Session 4: July 10th-July 19th: Santa Barbara/Channel Islands

Travel Camp is going to sunny Santa Barbara! Please join us as we explore the amazing Channel Islands and venture into new places. We will be taking boat rides off the coast of Ventura to one of the most beautiful National Parks. We will hike and take in the sights from a different point of view. Back in Santa Barbara we will ride the trolley, walk the wharf, and lookout for sealife. It is sure to be a one of a kind trip!

Session 5: July 23-Aug 1st: Crater Lake (Mt. Shasta stopover)

Adventure is out there and we must go! Join us as we travel to Crater Lake, Oregon for amazing sights and happy hikes. Crater Lake is sure to stun us with its unforgettable volcanic formation. We will enjoy hiking, wildflowers, sightseeing, and swimming. We will also be making pit stops at Mt. Shasta and enjoy scenic overnights.

Session 6: Aug 4th-13th: Glamping: Universal Studios/Hollywood Tour

“Lights! Camera! Action!” We’ll be traveling to Universal Studios and getting a behind the scenes look at movie and tv sets! We will also ride the thrilling rides that the park has to offer. When we are not at Universal we will be exploring Downtown Hollywood, going to nearby beach towns, and spending time at the local spots.

Deposit:

To hold your camper’s space in a session as “private pay”, you will be charged a non-refundable deposit of $239,30 for sessions One through Five, or $639.30 for Session Six. There is no deposit if you are applying through a regional center. You will not be charged a deposit until your camper’s enrollment is confirmed in a session.
