David comes from a family of civic minded professionals. He is a serial entrepreneur with over two decades experience developing and commercializing life science and precision medicine technologies. His overarching focus continues to be in the advancement of human health and quality of life, which attracts him to Camp Krem’s mission.
David has direct business experience around the world. He currently heads up QIAGEN’s global market strategies. Prior experience includes:
· Co-founder and the Chief Commercial Officer for Synthomics, a DNA synthesis company;
· Illumina (MIT Tech Review’s “World’s Smartest Companies”, MIT’s “50 Most Disruptive Companies”, and Forbes’ “12 Most Disruptive Names in Business”) where he was on the team that developed the technology now used by 23&Me, Ancestry DNA and others.
· Co-founder of Agradis, a company using microbes to promote plant growth.
· Synthetic Genomics, founded by Craig Venter, where David won several Intellectual property awards.
Currently, David serves as mentor and judge for the University of California, San Diego’s Rady Business School incubator. He has a BS (Biochemistry and Cell Biology) and MBA from the University of California San Diego, with further studies in Molecular Genetics at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory NY and the University of Zurich.
David has served on Camping Unlimited’s Advisory Board since 2016, and now volunteers on our Finance, Fundraising, Marketing, Long Range Planning Committees.
