A Note from the Directors
Dear Friends & Supporters of Camp Krem,
Another wonderful summer for the books! This summer, we were proud to have served 659 happy campers. At Main Camp, Travel Camp and Outdoor Adventure Camp, our campers enjoyed a wide range of activities and adventures. Visit our Facebook page to see pictures from Summer Camp!
With summer over, our Year-Round Respite Program has picked up again and we offer day trips or overnights almost every weekend from now until next summer! Enrollment is now open for our YRRP trips from now until December.
Wishing you and your family a very happy Fall,
Christina Krem & Katie Giampa

Upcoming YRRP Trips
November 10-12: Thanksgiving Overnight
Camp Krem is the place to be to celebrate Thanksgiving! Our favorite camp activities will help us to work up an appetite for the Thanksgiving feast on Saturday night!
November 18: Tilden park
Join us for a fun and relaxing day at Tilden Park! We will take a ride on the steam train, stroll through the botanic garden and ride the merry-go round. After a picnic lunch, we’ll check out The Little Farm to say hi to all the animals! Bring a picnic lunch!
December 2-3: Roaring Camp Holiday Train Overnight
Baking, cozying up next to the fire, and sipping hot cocoa are on the agenda for this winter weekend as well as some hiking and holiday themed Arts and Crafts. On Sunday we will pack up early and head to Roaring Camp Railroad where we will ride the steam train to Bear Mountain. At the summit, we will sip hot cider and delight in viewing a tree-lined walk of beautifully decorated holiday trees.
December 9: Christmas in the Park
We are off to downtown San Jose to see Plaza de Cesar Chavez turned into a winter wonderland. There are over 60 fun musical and animated exhibits to check out, as well as the chance to see all the glittering lights and meet Santa Claus! Those who want to can also head over to Downtown Ice to enjoy some ice skating.
December 15-17: Holiday Overnight
Let’s get in the holiday spirit and enjoy a cozy long weekend with our friends at Camp Krem! We’ll decorate a Christmas tree, bake, do arts & crafts, enjoy sipping cocoa around the fire and plenty more!
We Need Your Help!
Seeking a Place to Park our Vehicles
We are looking for somewhere in the Bay Area to park one or two of our vehicles and are hoping someone in the Camp family can help!
We use our vehicles for the Year-Round Respite Program and want to find somewhere in the Bay Area (preferably near a BART station) that we can safely leave our bus and van.
If you, or someone you know, has any ideas or a spot we could park our vehicles, please email Christina or Katie, or call us at (831) 338-3210
Rate Increase
As we geared up for the new season of events we, unfortunately, found the need to raise the rates for Camp Krem – Camping Unlimited Services. Rates for the YRRP events, as of September 1, 2017 are:
Day Trip: $155
2-Day Overnights (Saturday to Sunday): $350
Extended 2-Day Overnights (Friday evening to Sunday): $450
3-Day Overnights (Friday to Sunday): $525
The good news that accompanies this rate increase is that we are in the process of moving our Regional Center vendorization from RCEB to SARC and have demonstrated to the Regional Center system the need for rate increases. The Regional Center reimbursement rate should still cover the majority of a camper’s fees and, in fact, we are hoping will cover at a higher rate than is currently reimbursed. More on this topic to follow!
Featured Volunteer
Cecilia Haentjens
Cecilia, a long-time resident of Boulder Creek, has generously given a lot of her time this summer and last, bringing her ponies to Camp for the campers to enjoy!
She came every single session, at least once, with her sweet Mini Cooper and Pnut and our campers were lucky enough to get to spend time petting, leading, grooming the ponies and going for rides in the pony cart!Cecilia trained 16 year old Cooper herself and is looking forward to them showing off some of his tricks next summer! Pnut is 6 years old and came from a horse rescue. He had been abused as a baby and was terrified of children. After a lot of love and care, he is now a different pony and will calmly walk beside our campers!Cecilia has always been horse crazy and in addition to her miniature ponies, has a large pony named Flash, who she rides daily. She also takes both ponies in the Felton Remembers Parade and the Los Gatos Children’s Holiday Parade. Her favorite thing about coming to Camp is that she, Cooper and Pnut get to be ambassadors for the horse world, sharing the joy of ponies with our campers and giving them the opportunity to connect. We are so grateful for the time Cecilia dedicates to Camp Krem and look forward to horsing around again next summer!
