Dear Camp Krem Campers, Parents, Friends & Supporters,
Sadly, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will not have Summer Camp this year. We know that this is disappointing, and it is hard news to share. Like so many of you, we were hopeful that we would be able to resume our in-person events in time to hold Summer Camp, but do not believe it is wise.
The health and safety of our campers and staff are our top priorities at all times. It is impossible to imagine that no one will bring Covid to Camp, and impossible to imagine it would not then spread to other Campers and staff who would take it home to parents, grandparents and family friends. As much as we miss you and as much as we want to return to our wonderful activities, being a vector in the spread of this dangerous disease is not appropriate.
We hope this sad news is tempered by the optimistic fact that we will have more time and energy to focus our limited resources on rebuilding as soon as possible. The sooner we rebuild, the sooner we will all be back at our beloved Camp.
Campers, we miss you. We can’t wait to see you. As soon as it is safe and feasible, we will be able to resume weekend programs (day trips and overnights). Even if Camp Krem is not rebuilt by then, we expect that we can rent another facility nearby. Once we are able to resume our program, you can count on us to do so.
In the meantime, we hope you can join us for some of our fun online programs! Registration for our upcoming events will open soon.
More About Our Virtual Activities
Our upcoming ‘Kremtastic Events’ will be led by Kristen Carter, who is working hard to plan a diverse, fun and engaging range of online activities. Of course, we will be keeping the popular programs like the dance party, social clubs and game nights — and will be adding music programs, special guests and more!
Kristen Carter is a board-certified Music Therapist from Binghamton, New York. She began working with Camp Krem in 2016, while also pursuing her Music Therapy degree from Baldwin-Wallace University in Cleveland, Ohio. Kristen has previously served a few different leadership roles at camp, including Music and Recreational Programming Coordinator, Counselor-In-Training Program Coordinator, and Camp Program Assistant. She has since acquired experience providing Music Therapy services for children and adults in medical/rehabilitation, special education, long-term care, and hospice/palliative care settings. Kristen is so excited to meet and reunite with many campers virtually, while continuing to adapt programs in order to create a warm and inviting camp experience – at home!
We understand how important community is during these challenging times and feel it is so important to do what we can to provide our campers with connection and engagement. We also know that a great many people are experiencing financial hardship right now. We do not want our online events to be cost prohibitive for anybody – please inquire about a Campership (financial aid) if needed.
